Fall of the ayleids
Fall of the ayleids

Laloriaran Dinar, the Last King of the Ayleids, is seen in a flashback in Glenombra Moor, and the Doomcrag exists : It actually makes perfect sense, the Ayleids co-existed with and were part of the Direnni Hegemony. The ones in High Rock make so much more sense to be Direnni Ruins. So do we have a concrete idea of what the extent of the Ayleids was? Especially not within a stone's throw of the Dwemer, as seen in Craglorn. I don't recall reading about Ayleids living in Hammerfell. I suspect that there are moments in ESO where the developers are trying to convey ancient Aldmer settlements (Auridon), or ancient Falmer settlements (Fort Greenwall), but didn't feel like it was financially justifiable to produce new assets for slightly different architecture. Now that might seem like a lot of land, but here's my thoughts on ESO's use of Ayleid ruins: I don't think every Ayleid ruin in ESO is actually an Ayleid ruin. I slapped together a crappy map to give an idea of their extent. There are Ayleid ruins under Fort Greenwall in the Rift. Cyrodiil, Valenwood, Black Marsh, High Rock, Hammerfell, Elsweyr, Auridon, Stirk, Betnikh, and even friggin' Skyrim. That's when I learned that there was a significant Ayleid presence in Valenwood, that several Ayleid kingdoms migrated west to chill with their Direnni brethren during the Alessian Empire, and that the Barsaebic Ayleids set up shop in Black Marsh.Īccording to ESO, the Ayleid ruins are everywhere. Then I played Morrowind, and the lore of the TES universe began to entice me and I did a ton of reading. I wasn't really that much into the lore yet, and so I assumed that the Ayleid ruins were local to Cyrodiil.
